Film Description

Debra Baker has worked as an actor since 2006 in every area of the industry.  Theatre includes work at Soho Theatre, Bristol Tobacco Factory, 59E59 (New York), Theatre Royal Stratford East, The Yard, and Southwark Playhouse.  Film includes London Road, Diana, Junkhearts and Night Bus. TV includes Call the Midwife, Coronation Street, Doctors, Phoneshop and The Five. Debra was part of the BBC Radio Drama Company working on many Radio 4 plays and comedies.

Debra started writing in 2016, creating her own project, The Alphabet Monologues, a series of 52 monologues, one for each week of the year. Several of these monologues were published in 2019 as part of SLAM SPEECHES – a monologue book written by female writers/performers who have taken part in Monologue Slam.  Her first short play, Isabelle, was produced as part of Little Pieces of Gold at The Southwark Playhouse, and then by Drama Studio London as part of their 2018 Showcase.  Debra is currently studying Creative Writing (Playwriting & Screenwriting) at City, University of London, and is presently writing her first feature film, due for completion by 2020.
